After a below-par start to the International Midget Series by the teams high standards, Davey Ray got back on track steered the #88 team car to a 4th place finish in the World 50 Lap Derby on January 5th.
Ray qualified the car on pole with a blistering 13.838second time trial, with car almost never on 4 wheels the entire lap. He then won the A-qualifier race to secure the front position start for the 50 lap main event. With the car appearing to be set up a little too tight for the track, Ray was unable to match the mid-race pace of eventual dead heat finishers Michael Pickens and Jerry Coons, and a mid race rear brake failure slipped the team to 4th place behind current USAC champion Brian Clauson.
Overall a satisfactory result, as well as being one of only 4 teams out of 39 in the race series to finish every feature race over 4 events.
